Let’s go for a ride!

One of the most amazing highlights of Glacier National Park is a drive on the Going-to-the-Sun Road in one of the park’s infamous Jammers. Safely journey from one side of the park to the other in a comfortable bright-red Jammer as you wind through tight curves, hug mountainsides and even catch a glimpse straight down the edge of the road!

The Jammers travel along the park’s Going-to-the-Sun Road, an engineering marvel that spans approximately 50 miles, and is an inspiration to all who travel it. Your journey along this famed highway in one of the park’s vintage red buses, known as a “Jammer”, will lead you to a number of historic inns and lodges, and you’ll be treated to an abundance of wildlife throughout this protected area and some of the area’s most memorable vistas. You’ll even have the thrill of riding across the Continental Divide!

These antique, open-air sedans are the absolute best way to tour Glacier National Park and even have a canvas top that can be rolled back to allow for exceptional views throughout your journey. The busses are referred to as “Jammers” because they were first used with a standard transmission, and as the driver traveled the steep, rugged mountain highways, they could be heard “jamming” the gears up and down.

Originally built by White Motor Company in Cleveland, Ohio for the park in 1936 to 1939, the entire fleet of 33 busses today is basically the same busses, only improved. Between 1999 and 2002, the busses were taken out of commission as Ford Motor Company completely renovated and restored the magnificent bright red “Jammers” that have offered so many people some of the best sights in northwest Montana.
So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the comfort and beauty of the red “Jammer” and Glacier National Park as your tour driver verses you on a variety of Glacier Park topics and points of interest, making them your private all-access library to everything about the park.

Enjoy all of the majesty Going-to-the-Sun Road has to offer while cruising in one of Glacier National Parks’ historic symbols, the Jammer!
