before going green was fashionable, escorted travel screamed its energy
savings travel concept. Research has been done on the emission levels
of motorcoaches, and according to the Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) the real culprits to the atmosphere are cars...not motorcoaches.
With only two passengers per car, it takes twenty cars to move the same
amount of passengers as one motorcoach with 40 people aboard. The 20 cars
will emit 5-1/2 times as many hydrocarbons into the atmosphere as one
motorcoach; 7-1/2 times more carbon monoxide; three times the amount of
oxides of nitrogen; and three times more particulate matter - commonly
known as soot.
