Days One and Two — a Mississippi National River and Recreation Area Come discover the legend and beauty that is America’s Upper Mississippi River. A local guide takes us on a tour of the famed “Twin Cities” to see the State Capitol Building, Walker Sculpture Garden and the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. Enjoy free time for shopping at the Mall of America before a delicious dinner and Broadway-style production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. 2 Dinners and breakfast Day Three — Gangster Tour and National Eagle Center A nefarious gangster hood or his moll take over for a crook’s tour of infamous gangster hideouts, nightclubs and gun battle sites from the 1930s associated with gangsters like John Dillinger and Ma Barker. Winding our way along “Old Blue” we visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum, noted author of the “Little House” series. In Wabasha, lunch is at Slippery’s, the restaurant from the movie Grumpy Old Men, before coming to the National Eagle Center. Here we will learn about these cultural icons through displays and live shows featuring the birds living in the center. Breakfast and lunch Day Four — The Heart of the Upper Mississippi We begin at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a classic European-style shrine. Then, learn about Norwegian culture at the Norskedalen Nature and Heritage Center. Explore the buildings and enjoy lunch with Norwegian entertainment. In Prairie du Chien sits a fine example of upper-class Victorian America at Villa Louis mansion, the site of Wisconsin’s only battle during the Civil War. At Stonefield Historic Site, learn about the rise of turn-of-the-century dairy farming to see what made the state become “America’s Dairyland.” Breakfast and lunch Day Five — Full Day Cruising aboard the Celebration Belle Riverboat Climb aboard the Celebration Belle Riverboat for an all-day cruise on the “Mighty Mississippi.” Relax on board, learn about the river, dine on delicious food and be entertained with live music, hilarious skits and comedy. Breakfast, lunch and dinner Day Six — Mark Twain’s Hannibal, Missouri In the river town of Hannibal, Missouri, we tour the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum. Consisting of eight buildings, six of which are on the National Register, the complex includes interactive museums and a collection of original Norman Rockwell paintings. Learn how a young boy growing up in the small village of Hannibal became one of the world’s most beloved authors. After lunch, we climb aboard the Mark Twain riverboat for a narrated cruise along “Ol’ Man River.” Later, we arrive at our hotel in Saint Louis. Breakfast Day Seven — Saint Louis Gateway Arch and a Jefferson National Expansion Memorial A local guide leads a tour of Saint Louis from its earliest neighborhoods to its most modern structures. From Civil War sites like the Old Courthouse and Saint Louis Arsenal to the Gateway Arch and the new Busch Stadium, Saint Louis has a rich history. We stop at the new Ballpark Village for a visit and lunch on own. At the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial the impressive Gateway Arch dominates the landscape. In the evening, we take to the River again for a narrated dinner cruise. Watch the Saint Louis skyline light up, showcasing its rich architecture, including the stunning illuminated Gateway Arch, while listening to live music. Breakfast and dinner Day Eight — St. Louis Iron Mountain and Southern Railway Discover Missouri’s French roots at the Felix Valle State Historic Site at the 1818 American-Federal style Felix Valle House and the 1792 Bauvais-Amoureux House. Then climb aboard the St. Louis Iron Mountain & Southern Railway for a journey along the historic “Iron Mountain” line. Relax in the 1925 coach cars, take in the scenery and enjoy your box lunch while listening to a musical salute to the music of the 1950s. Breakfast and lunch Day Nine — Musical Memphis At Elvis Presley’s 14-acre estate, Graceland we see the living rooms, music room and “jungle” den along with Elvis’ gold records, awards and costumes. Take a moment to reflect in the Meditation Garden where Elvis and his parents rest. A local guide takes us on a narrated tour of Memphis to see Beale Street, Cotton Row and the Lorraine Motel. For a taste of authentic Memphis barbeque, dinner is at the award-winning Central Bar-B-Que. Breakfast and dinner Day Ten — Travel Home Leaving Memphis behind, we arrive home today in the late afternoon. Breakfast
