Day One — Lake Geneva Cruise We begin our journey with a boat excursion on Lake Geneva. Relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake and the elegant estates. Following the lake cruise, there will be time to shop in the town of Lake Geneva. Continue north along Lake Michigan to Sturgeon Bay, located in Door County, our home for the next two nights. Dinner Day Two — Touring in Door County Today is filled with sightseeing in charming Door County. A local guide takes us to quaint villages, scenic Peninsula State Park and a local winery. Tonight, our Tour Manager hosts a Door County specialty, an authentic Fish Boil dinner. After dinner, we attend a Midwestern musical at the American Folklore Theatre where past performances include Goodnight Irene and The Bachelors. Breakfast and dinner Day Three — Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and the Calumet Theatre Venturing into Michigan’s Upper Peninsula this morning we work our way along through the beautiful scenery to the town of Calumet. Here, we visit the Calumet Theatre for a nostalgic tour of this historic theatre which was built in 1900 during the copper mining boom at the turn of the century. Today, the Calumet Theatre maintains its rich history and beautiful architecture. Breakfast Day Four — Copper Harbor and Fort Wilkins We follow the rugged shoreline of the Keweenaw Peninsula to the town of Copper Harbor. This was once the center of the copper mining in the region and was also a supply depot and gathering point for exploring parties. At the end of the Keweenaw Peninsula stands the Fort Wilkins Historic Complex, a well-reserved nineteenth-century military post and lighthouse complex. Later we come to Porcupine Mountains State Park for a stop at the Lake of the Clouds overlook. Located between two mountain ridges, the lake is surrounded by virgin wilderness and stunning vistas. Later, we continue on to the quaint town of Ashland, Wisconsin. Breakfast and lunch Day Five — Apostle Islands Cruise Today we travel along the Bayfield Peninsula to Bayfield where we see the interesting architecture of the past century where the stately brownstones dominate the Historic District of this Victorian town. Just offshore lies the pristine blue waters of Lake Superior’s Apostle Islands. We’ll board a ship for a leisurely half day cruise which weaves through the 22 islands and see the Island Lighthouse and restored 1930s commercial fish camp. Tonight we enjoy a special farewell dinner hosted by our Tour Manager. Breakfast and dinner Day Six — Journey Home We travel home today with fond memories of your trip to our neighboring states.
