Days One and Two — Our Western Adventure Begins! Our Texas Cowboy Country adventure begins with a welcome dinner and visits to the Will Rogers Museum and Oklahoma City Memorial and Museum. Dinner and breakfast Day Three — Welcome to Texas and the Y.O. Ranch Hotel At the heart of Texas Cowboy Country lies the Hill Country town of Kerrville. Our home is the impressive Y.O. Ranch Hotel, whose lobby welcomes you with Old West memorabilia, antiques, artifacts and handwork of Indian heritage from the 1500s to 1800s. Tonight, we enjoy dinner at the Y.O. Ranch Hotel. Breakfast and dinner Day Four — San Antonio River Cruise and The Alamo In San Antonio, history comes alive as a local guide shows us the city, the Mission San Jose and El Mercado. Enjoy lunch on your own in this picturesque town before a narrated river cruise along the San Antonio River. Learn about the River Walk, a public park lined with bars, shops and restaurants. We also visit the Alamo, the mission and fortress where Davey Crockett and 185 other “Texans” died defending Texas against an army of over one thousand. For those who wish, an IMAX film, Alamo – The Price of Freedom, is available at an additional cost. Breakfast Day Five — Y.O. Ranch and National Museum of the Pacific War Heading out into the Hill Country today we visit the Y.O. Ranch, a 40,000 acre ranch boasting 55 different species of exotic animals. Watch for giraffes, African wildebeests and antelope, on a wildlife tour with one of the ranch’s guides. We enjoy an included lunch at the ranch. In Fredericksburg, we visit the National Museum of the Pacific War, a one-of-a-kind museum covering the War of the Pacific arena. You will also enjoy free time here before returning to the hotel. Breakfast and lunch Day Six — LBJ Ranch and Texas White House At the Lyndon B. Johnson Ranch and Texas White House State Park we see memorabilia from LBJ’s presidency. On a driving tour of the ranch grounds we see the presidential airplane, runway, LBJ’s automobiles and the Johnson family cemetery. In the Texas White House we see the living and dining rooms as well as LBJ’s “west office” where he often conducted the nation’s business. Just down the road from the ranch is the boyhood home of LBJ where we get a look at life in rural 1920s America. Breakfast Day Seven — Texas Civil War Museum and Fort Worth Cattle Drive A local guide joins us for a tour of Fort Worth to see Sundance Square and the new memorial dedicated to the memory of John F. Kennedy. We also visit the Texas Civil War Museum, the largest Civil War museum west of the Mississippi. At the historic Fort Worth Stockyards the old west comes alive as “Drovers” bring in their herd of Texas Longhorns through town, a re-creation of life during the cattle drive era of the late 1800s. Tonight, dinner is at Cooper’s Old Time Pit Barbecue, a Hill Country tradition since 1953. Taste the legend for yourself.
