Itinerary
1
  1. History Awaits Us
Join us as we embark on a journey to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh. We travel to Sikeston, Missouri, for our first overnight and a welcome dinner at Lambert's "The Home of the Throwed Rolls." (Dinner)
2
  1. Mississippi River Cruise and Memphis
Leaving Missouri we travel through Arkansas before crossing into Tennessee at Memphis. Here, we climb aboard the Memphis Queen riverboat for a narrated cruise along the Mighty Mississippi. We'll learn tales of river life as spun by Mark Twain and hear about the S.S. Sultana steamboat accident, one of the worst American maritime disasters to date. Later, enjoy the evening on your own in Memphis, the "Home of the Blues." (Breakfast)
3
  1. Shiloh National Military Park
Today we visit Shiloh National Military Park, site of the Battle of Shiloh. Originally fought over two days in 1862, the battle of Shiloh saw Union General Ulysses S. Grant and Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard wage what the costliest battle of the war at the time, with well over 23,000 casualties incurred on both sides. An informative film describes the events of 1862, and costumed interpreters (when available) provide period demonstrations. Tonight, we overnight in Corinth, Mississippi. (Box lunch)
4
  1. Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center and Buttonwillow Church Dinner Theater
This morning we visit the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center where we view a multi-media presentation of the Battle of Shiloh and see a video of The Battle of Corinth which explains the key role Corinth played in the American Civil War. Tonight, history comes alive at the Buttonwillow Church Civil War Dinner Theater. Surrounded by the elegance of a beautiful antebellum-style hall, we'll take a step back into 1864 with a delicious meal from authentic Confederate White House recipes and a moving production of Granddaddy's Watch, as only Buttonwillow can do it. (Breakfast and dinner)
5
  1. Chickamauga National Military Park and the "Battle Above the Clouds"
We begin the day with a visit to America's first and largest National Military Park at Chickamauga. The park commemorates Civil War soldiers from both sides, features an audio visual presentation and houses the Fuller Gun collection. High atop Lookout Mountain the Battles for Chattanooga Museum includes an electronic map of the area's battles and a visit to Park Point is highlighted by James Walker's painting The Battle of Lookout Mountain which became known as the "Battle Above the Clouds." (Breakfast)
6
  1. Falcon Rest Mansion and the Battle of Franklin
Today we are greeted by Gen. John Hunt Morgan and are invited to his Honeymoon Ball in beautiful Falcon Rest Mansion, aptly called "Tennessee's Biltmore." The town of Franklin was the scene of the five bloodiest hours of the American Civil War. We'll visit Carnton Plantation and learn how this home was used as a field hospital for wounded Confederate soldiers while the battle raged around it. A stop at Carter House shows us a modest brick home, riddled with bullet holes. It was commandeered and used as a Federal command post. Tonight we enjoy dinner and Civil War Ball hosted by Mrs. Smith in Clarksville. (Lunch and dinner)
7
  1. Fort Defiance and Home
This morning we stop at the new Interpretive Center at Fort Defiance to learn how the fort was surrendered without a single shot being fired.
