  1. History Awaits Us
    Join us as we embark on a journey to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, considered by many to be a major turning point in the American Civil War. We overnight in Pennsylvania where a welcome dinner awaits. Dinner

  1. Laurel Highlands and Antietam
    We depart for the quaint town of Ligonier in the heart of the Laurel Highlands with its antique stores and specialty shops. While traveling the historic Lincoln Highway, we make a stop at the Flight 93 Memorial. Dropping down into Maryland, we visit the Antietam National Battlefield. It was here that over 23,000 soldiers were killed, wounded or missing after twelve hours of savage combat on September 17, 1862. Tonight, dinner is at the Dobbin House Tavern, the oldest building in Gettysburg, which features historic furnishings and costumed wait staff. Breakfast and Dinner

  1. Gettysburg National Military Park
    At the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center we begin with the Morgan Freeman-narrated feature film A New Birth of Freedom, which will orient us to the Battle of Gettysburg and the American Civil War. Then, we see the restored Cyclorama painting, the Battle of Gettysburg, the largest painting in the county. You are literally surrounded by the fury of "Pickett's Charge" in this one-of-a-kind panoramic experience. There is nothing quite like standing on the actual battlefield at Gettysburg. A licensed Gettysburg guide leads us on an in-depth look at this historic three-day battle. Learn about the "Peach Orchard" and "Roundtop" while passing through the hallowed ground of what became the major turning point of the war. Breakfast

  1. 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and Shriver House
    Today is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Originally fought over 3 days in 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg saw more men fighting and dying than any other battle in American history. In addition to the reenactment, the day will feature field and live mortar demonstrations, a living history program with village as well as Sutler Row shopping area and 1860s military camp. Later, we'll see the Civil War through the eyes of the civilians of Gettysburg at the Shriver House. Tour the home and hear the story of Hettie Shriver who, with her two daughters Sadie and Mollie returned to their home after the battle which had been occupied by Confederate soldiers and was being used as a hospital.   1. Eisenhower National Historic Site and National Civil War Museum
    This morning we visit the Eisenhower National Historic Site, home of the 34th President, Dwight D. Eisenhower. This 474-acre farm was the only home President Eisenhower and wife Mamie ever owned. See the modest house into which the Eisenhowers welcomed dignitaries from all over the world. Later, we travel to Harrisburg and pay a visit to the National Civil War Museum. This is the only museum in the United States that portrays the entire story of the Civil War with equally balanced presentations which are humanistic in nature without bias to Union or Confederate causes.   1. Chocolate World
    This morning we pay a visit to the "sweetest place on earth," Hershey's Chocolate World. Take a moment to ride through the process of making the world's favorite milk chocolate on a factory tour. Then shop in their expansive store featuring all things Hershey from candies and confections to homemade fudge and fresh-baked cookies. Tonight, our Tour Manager hosts a farewell dinner.
