6 DAYS • 9 MEALS

Day One – Chicago to Michigan
Enjoy a guided panoramic city tour with a local guide. View such renowned Chicago landmarks as the Wrigley Building, Water Tower Place, Sears Tower and Navy Pier. Later we depart for Michigan. (Dinner)

Day Two – Traverse City
Today begins with a guided tour of the area’s unspoiled natural beauty including Sleeping Bear Dunes, a 70,000-acre park with dense beach-maple forests, rugged bluffs and crystal inland lakes. Before leaving town we visit The Music House, which has many fine and rare musical instruments. Continue north across the Mighty Mac, the Mackinac Bridge, to Sault Ste. Marie. (Breakfast)

Day Three – Soo Locks and Mackinac Island
The Soo Locks have been referred to as one of the great wonders of the world and it is still the largest waterway traffic system on earth. This morning we experience all the sights and sounds as we take a narrated cruise along the international shoreline of Michigan’s oldest city. Then we ferry over to Mackinac Island, a picturesque spot in Lake Huron that still preserves the charm of a bygone era. Because there are no cars, we tour the island by horse-drawn carriage. Relax and step back in time as you enjoy the atmosphere of this unique treasure. Enjoy dinner each night at the world-renowned Grand Hotel, your home for the next two nights. (Breakfast and dinner)

Day Four – Explore Mackinac Island
You will have the entire day at leisure on Mackinac Island. Browse the many shops, visit historic Fort Mackinac or rent bikes and pedal along the coast of Lake Huron. You may also choose to relax at our luxurious hotel. “The Grand” is a venerable island institution, and the perfect place to enjoy a stroll in the beautifully landscaped gardens or enjoy afternoon tea. Just don’t forget to sample the world-famous Mackinac Island fudge. (Breakfast and dinner)

Day Five – Frankenmuth
Today we leave the quiet and serenity of Mackinac Island and make our way to the German village of Frankenmuth, Michigan’s little Bavaria. A local guide will lead us on a tour and give us a glimpse of the history that is unique to Frankenmuth. You will have time to visit the glockenspiel, the covered bridge and everyone’s favorite stop, Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, the world’s largest Christmas store. Tonight we enjoy a typical Bavarian dinner at the Bavarian Inn restaurant. (Breakfast and dinner)

Day Six – Return Home
This morning we make our way back home with memories of autumn along Michigan’s northern shorelines. (Breakfast)
