Day
One – Chicago to Michigan
Enjoy a guided panoramic city tour with a local guide. View
such renowned Chicago landmarks as the Wrigley Building, Water
Tower Place, Sears Tower and Navy Pier. Later we depart for
Michigan. (Dinner)
Day
Two – Traverse City
Today begins with a guided tour of the area’s unspoiled
natural beauty including Sleeping Bear Dunes, a 70,000-acre
park with dense beach-maple forests, rugged bluffs and crystal
inland lakes. Before leaving town we visit The Music House,
which has many fine and rare musical instruments. Continue north
across the Mighty Mac, the Mackinac Bridge, to Sault Ste. Marie.

Day
Three – Soo Locks and Mackinac Island
The Soo Locks have been referred to as one of the great wonders
of the world and it is still the largest waterway traffic system
on earth. This morning we experience all the sights and sounds
as we take a narrated cruise along the international shoreline
of Michigan’s oldest city. Then we ferry over to Mackinac
Island, a picturesque spot in Lake Huron that still preserves
the charm of a bygone era. Because there are no cars, we tour
the island by horse-drawn carriage. Relax and step back in time
as you enjoy the atmosphere of this unique treasure. Enjoy dinner
each night at the world-renowned Grand Hotel, your home for
the next two nights. (Breakfast and dinner)
Day
Four – Explore Mackinac Island
You will have the entire day at leisure on Mackinac Island.
Browse the many shops, visit historic Fort Mackinac or rent
bikes and pedal along the coast of Lake Huron. You may also
choose to relax at our luxurious hotel. “The Grand”
is a venerable island institution, and the perfect place to
enjoy a stroll in the beautifully landscaped gardens or enjoy
afternoon tea. Just don’t forget to sample the world-famous
Mackinac Island fudge. (Breakfast and dinner)
Day
Five – Frankenmuth
Today we leave the quiet and serenity of Mackinac Island and
make our way to the German village of Frankenmuth, Michigan’s
little Bavaria. A local guide will lead us on a tour and give
us a glimpse of the history that is unique to Frankenmuth. You
will have time to visit the glockenspiel, the covered bridge
and everyone’s favorite stop, Bronner’s Christmas
Wonderland, the world’s largest Christmas store. Tonight
we enjoy a typical Bavarian dinner at the Bavarian Inn restaurant.

Day
Six – Return Home
This morning we make our way back home with memories of autumn
along Michigan’s northern shorelines. (Breakfast)
