Days
One and Two – Depart for the Lone Star State
Our San Antonio Fiesta adventure begins this morning as we travel
south. We’ll stop for an overnight and welcome dinner
in Missouri before continuing on to the “Sooner State”
of Oklahoma. Our Tour Manager will conduct a panoramic tour
of Oklahoma City before we settle in for the night. (Dinner
and breakfast)
Day Three – Arrive in San Antonio
Today we arrive in San Antonio where we enjoy the beauty and
romance of this lively Texas city. Our hotel is on the famous
Paseo del Rio (Riverwalk), a beautifully landscaped waterfront
nearly two miles long. It winds its way along the river and
is lined with shops, restaurants and entertainment.
(Breakfast and dinner)
Day Four – San Antonio Touring
This morning the history of San Antonio and Texas come alive
as we are joined by a local guide for a sightseeing tour of
the city. Stops include the Mission San Jose and shopping at
the Mexican Marketplace. This afternoon is free to soak up the
Spanish flavor of this picturesque city and enjoy the Fiesta
el Mercado. Tonight, experience the Riverwalk on your own with
its thousands of colorful lights adorning the beautiful facades
throughout downtown San Antonio. (Breakfast)
Day
Five – The Alamo and Dinner River Cruise
Enjoy a visit to the Alamo, a mission and fortress where Davy
Crockett and 185 other “Texans” died defending Texas
against an army of over one thousand. The Alamo represents nearly
300 years of history in its three buildings, the Shrine, the
Long Barrack Museum and Gift Museum. We see the IMAX presentation,
Alamo-The Price of Freedom and stroll through the beautiful
Alamo Gardens.
Tonight,
we enjoy a dinner cruise along the Paseo del Rio where you’ll
be serenaded by boating carolers and enjoy the holiday sights
from the water during Christmastime in San Antonio. (Breakfast
and dinner)
Day
Six – Austin and LBJ Country
Today we travel through the Texas hills to Austin, the state
capital. We enjoy a driving tour of the city before our visit
to the LBJ Library and Museum. Our next stop is Stonewall, the
birthplace of Lyndon Baines Johnson. We enjoy a tour at the
LBJ Ranch and view the “Texas White House” where
LBJ and Lady Bird Johnson are buried. Dinner this evening is
in the beautifully preserved German village of Fredericksburg.
(Breakfast and dinner)
Day Seven – Fort Worth and the Stockyards
We depart San Antonio this morning and travel north to Fort
Worth, the city of “Cowboys and Culture.” Once a
major stop on the legendary Chisholm Trail, Fort Worth has a
rich Western heritage. A local guide joins us as we tour the
city, including Sundance Square, Firehouse No. 1, the cultural
district and the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, which is listed
on the National Register of Historic Places. (Breakfast)
Days Eight and Nine – Travel Home
Leaving Texas we travel east through Arkansas, nicknamed “The
Natural State” because of its natural beauty. We overnight
and enjoy a farewell dinner hosted by our Tour Manager in Memphis
before continuing home filled with lasting memories of San Antonio
and Fiesta time. (2 Breakfasts and dinner)
