Day
One – Pennsylvania
Travel to Pennsylvania today as we begin our journey to Washington,
DC. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with your new traveling
companions. (Dinner)
Day
Two – Travel to Washington, DC
Upon arrival in DC we visit the Washington National Cathedral.
Neogothic in design, it is the sixth largest cathedral in the
world and the second largest in the nation. You’ll see
the beautiful Lewis and Clark stained glass windows as well
as the Space Window which features a piece of the moon brought
back by the Apollo 11 crew. You may also wish to visit Bishop’s
Garden and Bethlehem Chapel. Later, we visit Arlington National
Cemetery where we view the gravesites of John and Robert Kennedy
as well as the eternal flame that burns in dedication to the
memory of John F. Kennedy. Appreciate the military precision
of the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns.

Day
Three – The U.S. Capitol Building
and the Smithsonian
We begin the day with a visit to the Capitol Visitor Center,
which features an exhibition gallery and orientation theaters
before embarking on a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol Building
itself. The Senate and House of Representatives have met for
more than two centuries and the Capitol is one of the most architecturally
impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world.
Later, you may wish to visit the Smithsonian Institution, the
world’s largest museum and research organization. Composed
of 16 museums in Washington, DC, the Smithsonian’s exhibitions
offer visitors a glimpse into its vast collection numbering
over 142 million objects and includes the Air & Space Museum.
Later
this evening, an incredible illumination tour of Washington,
DC tops off this exciting day and showcases the memorials and
monuments of our Nation’s Capital bathed in floodlights.

Day
Four – Mount Vernon
and Washington, DC City Tour
Exit the 21st century this morning as we visit George Washington’s
Mount Vernon estate. The Ford Orientation Center and the Donald
W. Reynolds Museum offer visitors the chance to experience Washington’s
life through movies and exhibitions. Explore his mansion filled
with 18th-century treasures and stroll the gardens Washington
himself designed. While on the grounds of this 45-acre estate,
take in views of the Potomac River from the mansion’s
piazza. Upon returning to DC we enjoy a panoramic tour of the
mall area to see the many monuments and memorials dedicated
to Washington, Lincoln and FDR as well as the Korean War, Vietnam
and World War II. (Breakfast)
Day
Five – The Laurel Highlands
Today we leave the hustle and bustle of Washington, DC, and
head to the quiet beauty of the Laurel Highlands in southwestern
Pennsylvania. We make a stop at the Flight 93 Memorial before
taking the Lincoln Highway through the quaint town of Ligonier
with its antique stores and specialty shops. Tonight, enjoy
a farewell dinner with your traveling companions. (Breakfast
and dinner)
Day
Six – Return Home
Traveling back home, we arrive in the early evening with wonderful
memories of our journey. (Breakfast)
