DAYS • 11 MEALS
Days
One and Two
Begin our journey south through Tennessee and Georgia to the
Sunshine State of Florida. While en route, enjoy a welcome dinner
and get to know your traveling companions. (Breakfast and dinner)
Days Three through Eleven
Arrive in delightful St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, for ten
days and nine nights of sun-kissed fun. Our lodging is located
in the heart of St. Pete Beach, between the Gulf of Mexico and
the Intracoastal Waterway. You are within walking distance to
many restaurants, attractions and shops and your lodging is
right on the beach. We have set up a great combination of included
things to do, optional attractions and free time. An orientation
tour of the area includes a visit to the new Salvador Dali Museum,
where the artist’s harmony between art and science flows
throughout the museum’s design. At the Morean Arts Center,
see the new permanent exhibit by iconic glass artist Dale Chihuly.
On an optional tour to Sarasota, discover St. Armand’s
Key, an island shopping center removed from the bustle of the
mainland, and pay a visit to Ca d’Zan Mansion, the dazzling
palatial estate of John and Mable Ringling, often called “the
last of the Gilded Age mansions” to be built in America.
We make an included visit to Tarpon Springs, where its Greek
sponge and fishing docks and fun walking area make for a perfect
day. Lunch at Hellas Greek Restaurant gives us a taste of the
unique Greek culture of the area. Known as Tampa’s Latin
Quarter, Ybor City is an exotic blend of aromas, flavors and
sounds. At the heart of this feast for the senses is the original
Columbia Restaurant, the jewel in Ybor City’s culinary
crown. Later, we make a stop at the Manatee Viewing Center to
see these amazing gentle creatures.
Named
2009’s Top Beach in America, Fort DeSoto Park is a spectacular
combination of soft white sand, calm, clear waters and a laid-back
atmosphere. Enjoy a picnic lunch and explore the historic fort
found here. Set sail from Madeira Beach aboard The Sea Adventure
catamaran on a dolphin cruise in search of marine life. The
sparkling emerald waters, fresh salt air and soft gulf breezes
make for a relaxing voyage.
At the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary see how injured birds are
rescued and readied for their release back into nature. In addition
there are three free days to do as you please during your extended
stay such as visiting the fascinating Florida Aquarium where
you’ll come face to face with interesting and incredible
wonders of the deep. These are ten days you will never forget.
(Breakfast, 3 lunches and 2 dinners)
Days Twelve through Fourteen
Leave Florida and travel north through the states of Georgia
and Tennessee on our way home. A special farewell dinner is
planned en route with an opportunity to share to warm memories
with new-found friends sure to last a lifetime! (2 Breakfasts
and dinner)
