The small community of Oberammergau with its 5,300
inhabitants is situated in the Ammer Valley close
to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and is known worldwide
for the impressive Passion Plays performed every
ten years.
While
in Oberammergau, your hotel accommodations are within
walking distance of the Passion Play Theater. You’ll
enjoy lunch at your hotel, and then during the intermission
following Part 1 of The Passion Play, you will enjoy
dinner at your hotel before returning to the theater
for Part 2 of the play.
Oberammergau
is a treat for the eyes. Ornate wall paintings of
traditional Bavarian themes, fairytales or religious
scenes that date back to the 18th century can be
discovered on many building facades. The streets
of central Oberammergau are home to craft shops
of glass painters, potters and traditional woodcarvers
as the village is known for a long tradition of
woodcarving with shops offering pieces ranging from
religious subjects, to toys and portraits.

Salzburg – Berchtesgaden and "The "Sound

Our
walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of
Salzburg brings us to the entrance of the historic
Old Town of Salzburg. We will walk the famous Getreidegassee
shopping lane, past Mozart’s Birthplace at
#9 and into Alter Markt, the old marketplace with
St. Florian’s Fountain. We continue to Mozartplatz,
on to St. Peter’s Cemetery and then on into
University Square. The afternoon is at leisure or
take an optional “Sound of Music” excursion

special highlight is your travel through the beautiful
region of Berchtesgaden to the picturesque farming
village of Obersalzberg 3,300 ft above sea level
past the legendary Untersberg. Ascend to the top
of the Eagle’s Nest, full of World War II
history including the Documentation Center and Bunker.
You’ll see spectacular views over the mountains
of Salzburg, the Tirol and Berchtesgaden. Enjoy
lunch in Berchtesgaden before departing for a spectacular

On our journey from Salzburg to Vienna, we'll stop
at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Melk Benedictine
Abbey situated high above the beautiful Danube River.
Boasting over 1,000 years of history, this is one
of the most significant Baroque-style complexes
in Europe. See the Marble Hall and Library with
its thousands of identically bound books. Our visit
includes the Abbey Church, which is regarded as
the most beautiful baroque church in the world.
For
centuries, Vienna has been synonymous with music
as it is home to some of the world’s greatest
composers – Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and
Johann Strauss. This outstanding musical heritage
makes this capital city of Austria literally a cultural
haven of museums, dance centers and theaters.
Your
city tour will take you to the famous Kartner Strasse
pedestrian street as well as the magnificent St.
Stephen’s Cathedral, noted for its Gothic
edifice, in the heart of the old city. Visit the
nearby Mozart House, where Mozart lived and wrote
his most important works, including The Marriage
of Figaro. Continue on foot to the Hofburg Complex,
the Hall of Honor in the National Library and the
Treasury. Your tour continues by motorcoach on a

Today you depart from Vienna and arrive in Budapest,
considered the "Paris of the East." Budapest
is one of the most beautiful, ravishing and fascinating
capitals of the world. Two thousand years of history,
outstanding cuisine, historical monuments and great
architecture makes Budapest the jewel of Central
Europe along the Danube.
Your
city tour showcases the highlights of Pest, which
lies on the flat terrain of the Great Plain. You
will see the magnificent Parliament Building located
on the Danube River, the Hungarian Crown Jewels
and visit the neo-Renaissance style State Opera
House designed with elements of baroque - a major
figure of 19th century architecture. Lunch is on
your own to enjoy the local cafes in Pest.
Your
drive across the Danube River begins with a stop
on Gellert Hill for a panoramic photo stop overlooking
the river. On a walking tour of the Castle District
through this historic part of the city. Rising 200
feet above the Danube, the Castle Hill or Várhegy
nevertheless dominates the city. This hill is the
place where Budapest was founded. It is a small,
densely built rock, with the Buda Castle, the historic
royal castle of Hungary, as the most prominent building.
Enjoy traditional flodni pastry made of walnuts,
apples and poppyseed at a local café before
continuing your tour and see the National Gallery
which houses an astounding collection of paintings.
See Matthias Fountain, a beautiful statue depicting
King Mattias, encased by Corinthian columns, designed
by Alajos Stróbl in the style of a Roman
Baroque fountain in 1904. On a visit to Fishermen’s
Bastion, well-known for the wonderful panoramic
views it provides of the city of Budapest, the castle-like
Fisherman’s Bastion built in 1905, mainly
for decorative purposes. It is located near Matthias
Church in the Castle District of this interesting
city.
